I had the honor of visiting Fazio in the Erice Region of Northwest Sicily.  This is a progressive family operated winery that is steeped in old school traditions.  One example of how these opposing ideas coexist is Fazio's vineyard dedicated to varietals that have been planted in Sicily for generations, but have not been formally identified.  They are working with a university in Sicily on this project. 

The Moscato Petali is a sweet sparkler that is beautifully balanced by its acidity.  This wine was the perfect complement to our dessert course, putting a ribbon on a meal I will never forget.

Tasting Notes:

Refined and broad to the nose, with floral and fruity notes of rose and white peach.  On the palate the delicate sweet notes of ripe grapes marry perfectly with the velvety profile of the wine. The finish is harmonious and enveloping.
